世界の熱帯・亜熱帯に広く分布し、日本では本州以南に分布する。オスは稀で、日本からは未発見。触角第3・4節はそれぞれ2本の感覚錘を持つ（第4節にはこれらの顕著な感覚錘以外に、外側にごく小さな感覚錘を1本持つ）。主にイネ科植物上に生息し、カイガラムシ類を捕食する。

This species is widely distributed in the tropics and subtropics of the world, and in Japan it is distributed south of Honshu. Males are rare and have not been found in Japan. The antennal segments III and IV each have two sense cones (in addition to these major sense cones, segment IV has one small outer sense cone). It mainly lives on Poaceae, bamboos and grasses, and preys on scale insects.
